Tequila Trip

After we had toured the Guachimontones we headed back to Teuchitlan and the restaurants on Lake Vega.  We decided on the Monte Carlo, a huge restaurant right on the water.  It was empty apart from our little group, I’m assuming because of the time of day and week.  Most of us ordered a molcajete  which is a big lava bowl of soup with all kinds of stuff in it.  Good stuff!

Navigating from Teuchitlan to Tequila proved to be another aggravation because of road construction.  We were trying to get on the toll road but couldn’t find an entrance, so we had to take the old road.  We finally did manage to reach Tequila but by the time we located the town centre and the Casa Cuervo Distillery, we found we had missed the last English speaking tour by 10 minutes.  With that news we trudged broken heartedly into their lounge area and ordered up some margaritas to console ourselves.  I had the traditional lime, but the others were more adventurous and ordered coconut, mango, and one other weird concoction that I can’t recall.   By the time we downed the drinks it was time to think about heading back to Ajijic in order to arrive home before dark.  We made it home in record time and arrived just as the rain started to fall.   There’s been some strange weather happening here this past week.

Here are a few of the photos I took of the town and distillery Casa Cuervo, which by the way is “Crow House” in English.
